What is GoNogging?

GoNogging is the brainchild of Gordon Gooch and John Carlino; two entrepreneurs who wanted to create a company to help people get through these trying economic times by cutting costs for small and medium sized business and putting people with skills back to work. The two groups we see struggling the most are small business owners and freelance creative artists, such as developers, artists, videographers and musicians.

Small business owners need high quality marketing material such as websites, ads, jingles and Youtube videos to compete effectively, but can’t afford pricey ad agencies or developers. Meanwhile, creative artists are struggling to make ends meet and are increasing finding their jobs outsourced. GoNogging brings small business owners together with the multitude of creative artists looking for more work to help small businesses get the high quality advertising, or ANY digital content they need while providing creative artists a new source of income.

Along the way, the founders realized that they could also use the same GoNogging methodology to help charities! An entire section of the site was devoted to virtual charity events and charity auctions, all guaranteed by GoNogging’s transaction safeguards.

What is a GoNogging Virtual Charity Event?

It is a way for Charities to create a fun, interactive ways to solicit donations from new and existing benefactors. Charities can create worldwide, performance based interactive events whereby individuals or groups are challenged to do or create something specific in the name of the charity and compete for a guaranteed prize. Conversely, charities can create a virtual auction event whereby the charity could offer either tangible or digital goods to the highest bidder or highest bidders.

How It Works:

GoNogging will help you create a unique, virtual event that involves the creation and submission of either a video, audio or imagery like a photograph or art work.  These virtual events appeal to two distinct groups, the donors who are interested in helping your charity and participating in a fun interactive event and those who want to complete to create the video, audio, or artwork.

At the conclusion of the event:

• Those that donate vote on the winner and receive a copy of the wining content.
• The winning entry gets a prize and recognition for helping the charity.
• The charity gets the donated funds and the wining content, with the right to use the content as they see fit.

Examples of Possible Charity Events and Auctions

• Photo Contest: The cutest rescued pet photo
• Design Contest: A new website or logo design to support your cause
• Video Contest: A 30 second viral video / commercial made for Youtube that you can place on your website and other video sharing sites to elicit more donations
• Virtual Auctions: 1) A charity might have a limited release photograph donated to the charity. The charity could use GoNogging to create a virtual auction and sell the photo to the highest bidder. 2) An artist might donate an illustration on behalf of the charity and the charity could use the auction functionality to auction the digital illustration to the top 100 bidders.

Safety and Security Issues

GoNogging administers the virtual charitable event and ensures that all donations are safe and secure. At the conclusion of the event, GoNogging will deliver a check to the Charity for the donations, award the prize to the contest winner and make sure all of the donors have the ability to download a copy of the winning submission as a reward for participating.

Publicity

We promote and broadcast your virtual event to our members and all of our social media contacts, such as Facebook and Twitter. We devote a certain amount of our regular advertising to promote the charities event/auction as well. Since your virtual event is broadcast worldwide, anyone that is drawn to your cause can participate.  You also have the ability to educate your members/donors by directing them to your own event page hosted on GoNogging.

One company we know of, DatingHeadshots Inc. , was interested in having a 45 second viral video created for YouTube to showcase their new product offering. They went through all of their contacts and got a few suggestions and then even went to Craigslist to put out a job offer because that was the only thing they could think of to do. I mean there is a whole section on video and movie jobs on Craigslist so that seemed like a good idea. Within a week they had probably 20 proposals. and it took probably 10+ hours to get those proposals locked down and submitted to them. Each group was emailed/phoned a few times to set up a conference call where they gave the same specifications and answered the same questions. Then they waited a few days and maybe answered some more questions and then finally the proposals came in. By now they had burned up about 3 1/2 weeks just to get the proposals in. In the end, they received proposals that ranged from $1,500 to $25,000 for the same specified viral video…this was after they told each group that we only budgeted $2,500 for the 45 second video.

After another month or two they finally got a referral to yet another group who they finally contracted to shoot the video and set it up for them for about $2500. So in the end it took them 4 1/2 months and $2500 to get a 45 second video shot which they had the script and all of the specifications for.

What if, at the time they had access to GoNogging? What would crowdsourcing the 45 second video have looked like and what would it have saved them.

First they would have saved a hell of a lot of time searching for videographers by creating a single request with all of the specifications and the script on GoNogging. GoNogging would have promoted the video request to all of its videographers and others for free. The company would have bid exactly what they were willing to pay for the 45 second video …maybe only $1,500 to start with. In the end they would have most likely received 3 to 5 videos to their specification in less than one month and never had to pay more than they bid through GoNogging.

Small and Medium sized business need to focus their energies and not waste time and money. Using crowdsourcing to develop content for your online advertising and websites is the fastest and simplest way to save time and money.

In the world of GoNogging, creative individuals find the projects that interest them and offer enough cash to make it worth while. I’m always looking for a higher level of production and I know anyone that makes requests for content on GoNogging are too. Creatives need to think in terms of the entire project and not on how many keystrokes they have made toward the task at any one time. Besides , if my “boss” was watching my keystrokes while sitting on the Beach, I’d figure out a way to automate some clicks to my keybord to fool the bastard …maybe I’d post it as a request on GoNogging.
